In Maori tradition the Putupaiarehe are fairy-like creatures of the forests and mountains.

This little indigenous fairy is carrying a kete (woven basket) to show she is not coming empty handed. Traditionally these basket were used to carry and hold food. She wears a headband in the traditional colours of red, black and white.
